Departing from Chicago’s Union Station, a grand edifice characterized by its massive columns and ornate Great Hall, the start of my journey felt like traveling back in time. The station, a bustling hub connecting the East to the West, set the stage for an epic journey across the heart of America.

In Salt Lake City, I took the opportunity to step off the train and spend the night exploring the local area, including the nearby Wasatch Range. These mountains offer an array of outdoor activities and stunning natural beauty, providing a refreshing contrast to the previous day’s rocky vistas. Returning to the same train the next day, I continued my journey refreshed and eager to see what other scenic delights the Zephyr had to offer.
